Guest Post | Dining Design

Hello! I’m Claudia from Fig. 2 Design Studio’s The Color Connoisseur. I was so flattered when Flavia asked me to guest blog on Flavia’s Flavors! Flavia and I go way back to high school, but truth is we really only became good friends in the last year after reconnecting when Flavia asked me to re-design her blog and come up with a logo for Flavia’s Flavors. It’s been so fun to reconnect and work with her!
Since I am a designer and color obsessed, Flavia asked I write a little post related to design that revolves around dining. So I’m thrilled to share with you some beautifully designed things… one I own, one I want to own!
When we got married, my husband and I didn’t register for good silver or crystal because we didn’t find anything that suited our taste. Not to mention we are pretty laid back and don’t need anything too fancy. Back then received a few complaints about our lack of “good” registry items. So we caved and registered for some nice china. But truth be told, we didn’t LOVE it, it’s very nice, but a bit too traditional for our taste.

Minimalist cutlery by David Mellor.
When we were in London this summer, we spotted this cutlery set and knew this is what we had been looking for years ago. Designer David Mellor had such a minimalist theory when he designed this cutlery he didn’t think anyone would need a small fork. Apparently the English use three different size spoons, but in my family we are all about the dessert, so we ended up ordering twice the number of regular forks!

Mulholland dinnerware by Kelly Wearstler.
So now of course, I want new china to go with the new cutlery! But seeing as we only use good china every 2 years when we host Thanksgiving, this wish list item will sit on the back burner for quite some time. However, if I were to buy new dinnerware, I would LOVE to have this set.
Wouldn’t this look great with the new cutlery? Hmm. I think so!
I’ll be back again next week while Flavia enjoys her time in Rome. Thanks for having me!
