    I’m going to have to make this for my husband as he just loves apple cakes of any kind as well as Mantovan torta sbrisolona. During a holiday to Trentino Alto-Adige (probably the Italian region per eccellenza for apples) I remember eating something very similar called torta di fregolotti made with an apple filling.

    Adding apples to sbrisolona is an awesome idea! I must try it! Very interesting about the customs in Italy for leaving food for departed loved ones. It’s a lovely tradition.

    Lovely post Flavia! I love the idea of this cake been spicy and crumbly. I can see myself baking this throughout the year and enjoying it with a short black. Yes there are many different traditions surrounding this feast day and thank you for sharing more that I wasn’t familiar with. X
