A (very) belated buon anno, friends! I can’t believe January is almost over. I hope you had a serene and peaceful holiday season despite last year’s challenging circumstances. I was disappointed to have to abandon blogging for the better part of last year, but an unexpected family situation forced us to shift gears, and I simply did not have the time time to dedicate to my blog. I missed it so much, and I am thrilled to be back here writing. I had intended on sharing some recipes this month, but it just didn’t happen for a variety of reasons. I was hardly idle though. I spent most of this month working on my blog behind the scenes and planning some new features. I don’t want January to close without a new post because as you can see from the title, I have some new plans for the new year, and I am excited to share them with you!
A Newsletter! Next month, I will be launching a monthly newsletter entitled Cucina Conversations, where I will write about my thoughts on cooking, ingredients, and recipes, while still continuing to teach you about Italian food and food culture. I will also share a new recipe with you in each issue. I plan to have my newsletter read more like a letter of sorts–something familiar, casual, and conversational–just the way I like to live and cook.
New Subscription Feature If you look at the right-hand sidebar area, you will see a new subscription box where you can subscribe to email updates for new blog posts and the newsletter. Subscribe to one or both–it’s totally up to you! You are also invited to follow Flavia’s Flavors on social media by clicking on the social media buttons below the subscription box.
More Gluten-Free, Vegan, and Vegetarian Recipes With more people eating less (or no) animal protein, and eliminating animal-derived ingredients, dairy, and gluten from their diets, I will be learning and sharing more Italian recipes that are inherently gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian.
Recipe Videos! I am finally biting the bullet and will be filming recipe videos, where they will live on my own YouTube channel. I am still in the planning stages (and still half-frozen with agonizing camera shyness/terror), but I am mostly excited to get in my kitchen to show you how I make my favorite Italian recipes. Once my channel launches, I will be making an announcement in the newsletter, on Instagram, and on the Flavia’s Flavors Facebook page. Stay tuned!
“Cooking with Flavia’s Flavors” Facebook Group I recently created a private Facebook group for anyone who would like to chat about and share pictures of the recipes they make from the blog. A few details are still under construction, but it is open and ready to welcome you!
Virtual Housekeeping I am currently going back through old blog posts to make some much-needed edits and re-photograph recipes that need better photos. This project will probably take the longest for me to complete (because hello, Type A) but it feels good to give the blog a refresh.
As always, I will continue sharing regional Italian recipes, and teach you about Italian ingredients, culture, and food history along the way. I will also be featuring more “basics” posts to teach you about the techniques and recipes that are the cornerstone of Italian cooking. I’m looking forward to implementing all my new plans for the new year while continuing to bring you a taste of Italy to your home kitchen.
A presto!
